In 1929, José Maymó Figueres founded a laboratory in Barcelona, bearing his name and devoted to human health.
With the development of intensive poultry farming in Catalonia, he was sensitive to its needs and started to research bird health problems, to the point where the laboratory became specialised in Animal Health, with research also oriented towards pig farming, rabbit farming and livestock farming in general.
As from the end of the 50's, Maymó's team have developed several patents for active pharmaceutical ingredients for veterinary medicines.
At the beginning of the 60's, Maymó created the Fine Chemicals Division called INQUIPESA, specialised in synthesising Pharmaceutical Active Ingredients and particularly those specific to Veterinary Medicine.
By 1970 the laboratory had grown and flourished thanks to a combination of galenic and clinical experience and it became a publicly quoted company under the new name of "Laboratorios Maymó S.A.".
Aware of the importance of carrying out scientifically controlled studies on safety and efficacy, Maymó created in 2002 an animal research centre where it performes studies on: depletion of residues, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
In 2006, Maymó continues his plans of expansion, and with the acquisition of the Laboratories and Industries Iven S.A., it reinforces significantly his presence on the domestic and international market.
In 2007 there is a merger between Maymó & Inquipesa, giving the current dimension of the Maymó's Group.
Maymó has GMP certification and the main goal of the company at present is to satisfy the needs and demands of consumers.
The multi-disciplinary team at Maymo boasts its own centres, and collaborates with numerous publicly approved research centres and with prestigious universities in different spheres, making the most of possibilities for mutual growth, for the contribution of a large number of pharmacological, additive and animal health products of a high quality and efficacy.
